Where in the World is that Cruise Ship?

Speakers Cruise Free club member Gid Pool turned me on to this cool site that tracks the real-time locations of all Cruise ships and ocean liners in the world.

I thought was kind of cool!

Oh, and if you would like to find out if you have what it takes to be a cruise speaker then attend one of my next open auditions. Pick a time and date to attend here - http://www.speakerscruisefree.com/

You can do it!

Comedian Jerry Lewis used to write in his diary after a show. His jotting usually said either -

"I killed!" or "The audience sucked."

You can't go through life believing that someone else is responsible for any failure. Mind you I don't think Jerry Lewis actually believed that himself! There are many theories and gurus that propound the basis that by being positive about your goals you increase the likelihood of achieving them. I support that principle myself and encourage all my clients to get their own minds in the right frame. If they believe they will not succeed they stand a much better chance of failure!! J

If I had not believed I could get FREE CRUISES I would not have put in the effort. I knew I could do it - and I told everyone I was going to. The result is that we joined DANIEL HALL and SpeakersCruiseFree.com a few years ago.

Now we cruise the world for FREE. Several times a year.

And all I have to do is chat to lovely groups of interested people about topics that interest me - and only for about 45 minutes at a time - and normally only on the days when the ship is not visiting a port of call.

If you are not already with us click HERE now to find out if it will work for you.

Happy cruising FREE.

Do what you love ....

... and love what you do.

I am a great believer in making the best of life. And I have found, over the years, that if I make the most of the things I really enjoy so many of those other tasks are easier to do - and some of them even do themselves (well OK I get a bit of help by delegating!!)

Kathy and I really enjoy travelling. And we just love being pampered. So cruising was a natural for us. We have been cruisers for years and when the opportunity came to
CRUISE for FREE we asked some pretty searching questions. Satisfied that DANIEL HALL'S programme really worked we signed up to SpeakersCruiseFree. com.

And we haven't looked back.

We now cruise the world on board luxury cruise ships. I speak about the things I enjoy for 45 minutes on most sea days and our cruises are FREE. Really!!

What could be better?

Are you doing what you want to do?

I’m serious. We only have one life. Are you doing what you are intended to do with yours? Or what people think you should do? Or what you will really enjoy doing?

If you feel you are making the best of a bad job, or just accepting that this is all you are capable of – ask yourself again (or possibly for the first time) “What do I want to do with my life?”

Slide42A

I did that, with Kathy, my wife, and we decided that we wanted to travel in luxury, all over the world. Now, while we are not badly off, we did not want to spend our hard gotten capital on living the highlife. So we went on a hunt. And we found the perfect way to travel the world in 5 and 6 star luxury, eating wonderful food and sipping cocktails; watching West End shows and visiting great ports of call. We CRUISE for FREE!! Really! Well OK we pay for most of our own cocktails, but even those are heavily discounted on some lines.

When I found DANIEL HALL at SPEAKERSCRUISEFREE.COM it changed our lives. We are now doing what we truly want to do. And the cost is just amazing – free luxury cruises, all over the world, in exchange for around 1 hour on most sea days (2 or 3 times a week). And I get to talk about things that really interest me.

What could be better?

What sort of person are you?

John Newbern says “There are three types of people in the world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who say, 'What happened?' ”

What sort are you?

Do you sit there saying “I wonder how those guys get to cruise free all over the world?”

Do you just sit there watching other folks enjoy the high life as guests of the cruise companies?Bora Bora 1

Or are you out there with us enjoying luxury travel at the invitation of cruise lines – great shows, excellent food, super service?

What is success?

My mentor, Michael Neill, defines success in these words “Success is waking up in the morning and looking forward to your day, enjoying your experience of the day, and going to bed at night looking forward to waking up the next morning.”

In other words success is an attitude of mind. I’ve met cruise speakers who moan the whole cruise about the lack of interest shown by the cruise team – ignoring the fact that the speaker is often the least of their problems when they have prissey entertainers, high expectation passengers, a demanding boss and even the odd emergency to deal with.

Papeete April 23 2011 (10)

Our job is to get out there for an hour a day on sea days and provide an entertaining and enlightening diversion for the passengers – one that the cruise director doesn’t have to worry about. And having done that little thing, the rest of the task is to sit back, sip cocktails, watch the great shows, enjoy great service and food and explore fascinating ports. Oh and watch and learn from some other great speakers. Do that and you have achieved success.UP QR Codes

And of course all that comes free, because we speakers CRUISE  FREE  thanks to DANIEL HALL and SpeakersCruiseFree.com.

Divided by a Common Language

George Bernard Shaw is credited with this phrase and Churchill once said that “The United States of America and the United Kingdom are two great nations divided by a common language”. As the son of a wealthy New York heiress and as an international statesman he should know.

I have seen many cruise speakers who make no concessions at all to this difference. An English academic who talks in Oxford code or a New Jersey life coach who makes no concessions to his international audience will get poorer ratings than the speakers who find out the nationality split of the passengers and talks to them rather than beyond them.

Many cruise directors give an idea of the nationality split at the welcome on board show – even if you don’t attend the show it’s worth watching the relevant bit of the stateroom TV showing to find out.

And always use words and phrases that the whole audience will understand. Remember that a part of your audience will be the dozens of nationalities of crew, who get the chance to watch the TV re-runs on their cabin TV service when they finish work – often in thimagee early hours.

Oh – and watch what you do with your hands! While Governor Schwarzenegger’s cheery “thumbs up” might seem innocent enough, in some parts of the world this is just plain offensive! Whatever you don’t give this sign to a traffic cop in Rio!!!

Fly the way the sailors do!

When crew join, leave or rejoin a ship they often have to fly to get to or from the relevant port. Recognising this a number of specialist travel agencies exist that negotiate special air fares (maritime or marine fares). These fares are very well priced, more flexible that most advancSlide74ed purchase fares; they usually inlclude additional baggage allowances (commonly a 2 piece allowance) AND, as contracted speakers on board cruise ships we are usually entitled to these excellent offers.

There are several specialist agencies. We have traveled with both www.flygmt.com and http://www.totaltravelmarine.com/.

You will need to register and demonstrate that you are travelling to join a ship on a contract. And you should have your speaker contract or letter of engagement with you when you check in.

There you go. Another useful tip for our friends at DANIEL HALL’S SPEAKERSCRUISEFREE.COM.

Where do your neighbors go?

Where do your neighbors spend their vacations? We live in sunny Spain and many of our neighbors head for local beaches – or even to cooler northern climes. In winter they may go to the Canary Islands or the Spanish Caribbean. Or they may seek out the culture of Europe’s many cities.barcelona_sightseeing

They are often amazed by our vacation plans. Not surprising really. A number of other expats enjoy cruising. Often a couple, or even more a year. But of course, even with the best deals around, they end up paying far more than we do.

Kathy and I cruise free thanks to Daniel Hall at SpeakersCruiseFree.Com. And how good is that!

Well let me tell you – we cruise several times a year. And we really do cruise for free.

I’m just putting the finishing touches to my talks for a “six star” standard cruise in a few weeks time. We haven’t had to save for months (or years!) we don’t have to go into the red, and we don’t have to trim back on the rest of our lives.

We just get out there and cruise free.

Daniel will tell you that I was sceptical at first. I doubted the claim that we could cruise for free.

I was wrong. We can. And WE DO!!! ?

If you are not already cruising free do yourself a favor. Get one up on the neighbors and click HERE now.

Happy cruising free,

Getting there on time

My message for today is “Get to the ship on time!!”

On a recent cruise one speaker missed the ship because he left no time for delays on his connecting flight. Why would you leave such things to chance I wonder.

Professional photos Alaska cruise 206 007Our next cruise (thank you DANIEL HALL) is on one of the smaller premium lines that pays flights, gratuities and even drinks on board. When the proposed flight schedule came through yesterday – including a short international connection - Kathy & I decided to offer an option with a bit more leeway. So, with their agreement, we are flying into the departure port the day before and paying ourselves for an overnight hotel. A small price to pay for a six star FREE CRUISE.

Get there in plenty of time and ensure that you’re not the speaker who lets the cruise line down. UP QR Codes

My gift to you

I have gained so much from SpeakersCruiseFree.Com that I think it’s time to give something back!

To motivate yourself to achieve your goals use this simple exercise -

1. Choose your goal – maybe a dream that you have always harbored secretly. Perhaps your goal will be cruising free?

2. On a scale of 1 to 5 choose where you are now – where 1 is nowhere just yet and 5 means that this goal is in every fiber of your being – night and day.

3. Make a list of the steps you need to achieve along the way to move from the score you have now to reach a 5. Go right back to basics and note what your achievement will be when you know that you have progressed one point on the scale. And list all these steps along the way.

So for example – 1 is deciding that I want to cruise free; 2 is clicking the link to SpeakersCruiseFree.Com; 3 is signing up with SpeakersCruiseFree.Com; 4 is preparing your proposal to the cruise companies and 5 is taking your first free cruise with SpeakersCruiseFree.Com

4. Now look at you and identify how you will have to change to meet those goals. What are your personal milestones.

For example – 1 is really wanting to travel the world’s seas on free cruises; 2 is actually doing something about it instead of just dreaming; 3 is making a commitment to myself to join the cruisers who travel free with SpeakersCruiseFree.Com; 4 is devoting just a few hours to really understand the process and follow the simple steps that Daniel Hall will show you and 5 is packing your case ready to go on your first free cruise.

So there it is. A simple, easy to follow step to get off the sofa and achieve your goals.

You gotta have a Dream

According to the song – “… if you don’t have a dream, how you gonna have a dream come true?”

In my life I learned early to dream big. The truth is hardly anyone will dream as big for me as I can dream for myself – and by setting great goals I’ve kept getting great results. Why should anyone else believe in me if I don’t believe in myself?

Slide42ADaniel Hall at SpeakersCruiseFree/free.com introduced us to a way of travelling that really has changed our lives. How else would you take off for a 10 week dream trip around the world on board luxury cruise ships – and without being charged for being there?

Great shows, comfortable cabin with steward on call, good food (in fact so much you have to learn new disciplines) and passengers who want to buy you a drink and chat because they are so interested in what you have to say.

What is your dream? It probably involves blue skies, turquoise seas, luxury – and SpeakersCruiseFree/free.com can show you how to get it all.

Big ship? Small ship?

by Andrew Johnson

We are now on the final leg of our cruise speaking round the world tour – free cruises thanks to SpeakersCruiseFree.com.

This a ship with only 600 passengers and I’m getting much better promotion on board than I’ve ever seen before.

So my tip to you is to have a selection of descriptions of your talks of different lengths – a single punchy sentence for use on the really big ships, through to a 4 line paragraph giving more description for use on the 800 passenger or smaller ships.

And if you are not already cruising free click here now!

My first time

by Andrew Johnson

Tomorrow we board a ship with a new company – well new to us. This will be our first cruise with them. Thanks to Daniel Hall at SpeakersCruiseFree.com.

Kauai Wailua FallsNaturally I want to do a good job. I want them to invite me back – and I want to leave a good impression to reflect well on all the rest of you in this free cruising network of ours.

So I did my homework. I listened to Daniel’s advice (I always do). I checked with the enrichment officer at the line’s HQ to see if they have a preferred or (mandatory!) style for PowerPoint presentations, and what else they expect of their speakers. Some have very clear guidelines. So it’s always important to check. Winking smile

I have a good reputation. Speakers Cruise Free has a good reputation. Every time any one of us cruises free the reputation of the rest of us depends on how well we do.

I intend to do well – for my sake – and for yours!
