Lot's of sun and a live band attracts folks to the pool area!

I talked to Leo (the cruise director) he had me write up some catchy sentences to get people into my talks. He's going to write them up in English on a special paper inside the Cruise Compass.

Since only a few people came and we want to make this foreign language guest lecturer concept work for Royal Caribbean International I am going to also host a "Portuguese Speaking Club" in the afternoon for all gringos aboard.

I wouldn't normally do this but since my wife isn't with me it keeps me out and about and socially active instead of hiding in my room.

Finally, if you're going to do a presentation don't forget your laptop power cable even if you think it's fully charged...my laptop died halfway through the presentation and I had to RUN to my cabin midway through to get the cable.

Speakers Cruise Free - My Students in my First Onboard Talk

This cruise is completely Brazil focused. The Cruise Compass is distributed in Portuguese and English. They messed up today and sent the Brazilians the compass in English and the Portuguese version to Americans with the Portuguese title of my course INSTEAD of the English subtitle. Needless to say the only people who showed were there because they sat at my table the night before!

This is my first time at this so I don't know to what extent I can make suggestions to the cruise director ... I don't want to come off as pushy but this snafu was a bummer and out of my control!

The wait staff is nothing short of amazing. Erika's boyfreind is also a waiter on Royal Caribbean International's Splendour of the Seas. She's sad and lonely waiting for him to get back to the ship.

A Brazilian she also talked about how much she misses Brazil when she is in Europe or America; a special feeling called "saudade" we have no word for in English.

This is my first cruise and unfortunately Marisol had to stay home. The friendly nature of all the Brazilians on the helps me with my "saudade" of Marisol...NOT completely but at least a little.

Don't worry Marisol will be on-board when I cruise free again on two back-to-backer behemoths on Royal Caribbean International's Independence of the Seas in the Mediterranean in July and in August...14 days with Marisol and 14 days with my mom...FREE!

Speakers Cruise Free Speakers Cruising The World

If you are skeptical that my Speak on Cruise Ships program doesn't work or that it won't work for you, I want you to pay very close attention this blog over the next couple weeks.

Why?

Because more and more of the Speakers Cruise Free Coaching Club members are being approved to cruise free. And some of them will be posting their experiences as they go here at this blog. Take, for example, Dr. Scott Brown who is on a back to back cruise right now out of Brazil. He's posting regularly so check back often.

Then I just received this report from Club member Liliane Grace who sailed out of New Caledonia in the South Pacific. I reproduce the email below with her permission:

Hi Daniel,

My Rhapsody of the Seas experience was magnificent. I can't remember what I I emailed you from the ship, so here's an update:

On 14/12 I presented a session on French for Beginners - attracted 35 people.
On 15/12 I presented Travel Writing with Impact - attracted 30.
On 17/12 I presented 'Create the Life of your dreams- and attracted 41 people.
I also re-presented French and attracted another 30 people (including a few repeaters).
On 21/12 I presented a session on writing as therapy/to heal relationship with self- attracted 47 people.
On 22/12 I presented a session on increasing immunity to cancer - an introduction to the Demartini Method' and attracted 54 people. I had people sitting on the floor, standing at the back of the room, and even several who said they had wanted to attend but couldn't get into the room as it was so full!

As I walked about the ship I was stopped by passengers numerous times who wanted to thank me for the various sessions. So a very successful cruise from my point of view. (I also sold 98% of the products I brought on board.)

Paolo is a freind of mine here in Sao Paolo. He and I are going to see if we can get my investing courses marketed in Portuguese here in Brazil.

What I want you to understand is that my doctorate has nothing to do with my guest speaking free cruises out of Santos Brazil this Friday on Royal Caribbean's Splendour of the Seas. I am cruising free because my hobby is speaking foreign language.

I speak Portuguese and that is why I am cruising free. So don't think for a second that you need some advanced degree like my doctorate in finance to do what I am doing... Anybody who is comfortable speaking in a fun way to the public can do this.

Boy, do I have a hilarious (a-hem) holiday treat you. The whole Hall family attempted to sing Jingle Bells... we had a BLAST. Doesn't sound too pure but we did have fun.
